This website is dedicated to the american GIs for their heroic actions during the liberation of the Lorraine area in WWII.
This battle which will last more than six months (from September 1944 to the end of March 1945), will make around 500000 civilian and military victims. As a witness of this terrible but unknown battle, the biggest WWII European cemetery is located in St Avold, in Moselle area.
The first major fight of this history begins on September 7th 1944, day where american troops of the Patton Third Army are ready to cross the Moselle River close to the small village of Dornot for trying to establish the first bridgehead of this Army on the east bank of the river, at Corny-sur-Moselle…
Towards all these young soldiers who fought for our freedom, we have an eternal Duty of Memory.
