EXHIBITION 2006

The exhibition organized by the Thanks GIs association in May 2006 in Corny-sur-Moselle was very successful with more than 2500 visitors.

The people really enjoyed in seeing great collections of uniforms, weapons and material from WWII, but also many vehicles and notably the famous M24 Chaffee tank (complimentary brought by Nicolas Georges from JEEPEST), Half-Track, armoured, GMC, Dodge and Jeep.

The French Army brought a remarkable participation with the impressive Lerclerc tank and its carrier as well as other operational vehicles. The "Gazelle" helicopter caught many visitors who could sat in the cockpit, listening to the crew how to pilot a helicopter.

As soon as the visitors went into the exhibition, they fell immediately in the WWII atmosphere with dummies and dioramas surprising with their authenticity. They were filled with wonder in seeing a paratrooper jumping from a Douglas C47 Dakota, a wounded soldier having surgery, resistant fighters taking care of a paratrooper, and many other scenes.

Projected onto a large screen, the “Mortelles traversées” film showed the audience the strong battles and the sacrifices of the brave GIs as well as moving testimonies from veterans.
